With the advent of electronics and its ever-increasing use in vehicles,
the company felt the need to establish its own presence in this sector. In
2008, MTA launched its Electronics Business Unit with the acquisition of
Digitek, which moved to a new plant in Rolo (Reggio Emilia) in 2014. This local
unit allowed the company to quickly become a leader in the field of instrument
panels and displays for super sports cars, motorcycles, tractors, and
earthmoving equipment.
MTA has once again reacted promptly to the market’s change towards “electric” vehicles procuring the
necessary knowhow through the acquisition of EDN S.r.l., an Italian leader in
the design and production of on-board battery chargers and DC/DC converters for
electric and hybrid vehicles.
Most recently, in 2024, the company acquired a branch of Calearo Antenne
S.p.A., a company headquartered in Isola Vicentina (Vicenza) that has been
developing and producing advanced
communication technologies since 1957, working in synergy with the
world's leading automobile manufacturers. This strategic decision has allowed
MTA to expand its business to include new technologies related to vehicle
connectivity (between vehicles themselves and between vehicles and the
surrounding environment), also thanks to the strong synergies possible with the
electrical and electronic research & development departments.
The small workshop founded in 1954 has gone on to become a world-leading producer of a wide range of electrical and electronic components for the world’s top manufacturers of cars, motorcycles, trucks, and agricultural and earthmoving equipment. And the company is still even owned by the same family: its founder, Antonio, handed the reins down to his sons Umberto and Giuseppe, who, following their father’s example, have dedicated their entire lives to the company. Antonio Falchetti, Umberto’s son and the group’s general manager, works alongside his sisters and cousins, and even a nephew, who represents the start of the company’s fourth generation.
