MTA is now able to deliver a new power distribution box for tractor and earth moving machines: its name is PDU (Power Distribution Unit) and it has been specifically developed to meet the higher demands of these applications in terms of power and sealing.
The project has been developed in collaboration with the Same Group, that has began to use it in its vehicles starting January 2010. The PDU is a giant step forward compared to existing units, as it allows a simplified wiring harness layout in the engine bay, keeping harnesses safe from the water and dirt associated with the typically harsh environment of these applications. The PDU can be positioned at any point in the engine bay, making things easier for designers when defining vehicle outfit. In addition, it features a BDS-protected input that ensures compliance with the oncoming new machinery directive. The PDU can accommodate 2 Mini fuses under the bus bar, plus 2 more inline Mini fuses; 2 Midi fuses; 2 Mega fuses. In addition, it can house a battery disconnect switch or alternately 1 Mega fuse. The power distribution unit is enclosed in a plastic shell with 4 fastening points. Sealing is ensured by a seal and the three exposed sides except the output side are certified to meet the IP69 protection class. Noteworthy is the vertical position of the fuse and relay holder modules. This way, MTA engineers made the power distribution unit more compact, facilitating module removal when replacing the fuses or relays. The PDU can accommodate any fuse and relay holder modules in the MTA range.
